3) The Process - What Is Involved? (reading time: approx. 2 minutes)
3.1. Getting Going Just contact us and we'll set you up as a partner and provide you with login information to the W3A facilities and detailed information. If you don't already have them, you will need to open affiliate network accounts accordingly - we can help you with this. You then decide on a subject area that interests you and we build and deliver your site fully working and tested, together with detailed instructions for creating the content and building the links with other websites.
The detailed FAQ and W3A Partner manuals are available here on this website but you will require a W3A Partner login to access these. Please contact us if you need this.
3.2. Building Site Content and Links Once we have built your site for you, you take three steps:-
1) Use the W3A Content Editor to add the unique content for the majority of the categories on your site (you need this before you start linking) 2) Use the W3A RSS editor to add news or articles 3) Once the site has content, use the LMS linking system to commence trading links with other sites and (optionally) submitting articles to the major article sites
Once you have done this, you will probably come back to us to set up a second site and repeat the process, whilst managing the ongoing linking process for the first site. Linking is a long-term process which needs to be undertaken at a measured pace so you should be able to start the content work for the next site at the same time. How many sites you can handle is determined by how much time you are able to put in.
3.3. W3A Costs None. There are NO charges for joining the W3 Alliance. Nor are there any ongoing charges other than the costs from your web hosting company.
3.4. Creating The Sites We handle this for you. (Note : we will need some login information from your web hosting company to do this). You will also need to create a couple of email accounts in your email client (e.g, Microsoft Outlook) to receive the copies of the emails generated by the linking system together with a general email address for the site itself.
3.5. Hosting The Sites All websites must be 'hosted' i.e. sit on a web server (computer) with a fast connection to the internet. Except for the largest companies, everyone hosts their sites using a web hosting company who have the necessary connections and facilities and who usually manage the web servers as part of the deal. Web hosting can nowadays be obtained at very low rates.
(There are a few technical comments in the following paragraph but don't be concerned by this - these are aimed at people who already have their own web hosting).
If you want us to use your branding / logo etc., we are happy to integrate your logo within the template as part of the delivery of the site. We also have the ability to create and manipulate graphics. It also a good idea to distribute different sites across multiple web hosts if you can. The search engines look rather closely at sites on the same server or sharing the same class C IP range. When registering new domains, try also to vary the WHOIS information / registrant / agent as the search engines are known to interrogate this. PLEASE NOTE: the W3A system and templates are currently Windows / ASP based (although the LMS linking system has also been deployed for Unix clients) so hosting needs to be on a Windows server.
Detailed hosting information and requirements are available here on this website but you will require a W3A Partner login to access these. Please contact us if you need this.
